AIMPLAS' Bio-Innovation of a Circular Economy for Plastics (BioICEP) Project

AIMPLAS, a GO!PHA member, has achieved a significant milestone in the Bio-Innovation of a Circular Economy for Plastics (BioICEP) project. BioICEP, funded by the Horizon 2020 programme, is a collaborative initiative aimed at developing sustainable alternatives to traditional petroleum-based plastics. Collaborating with international partners, AIMPLAS employed innovative methods to transform fossil-based plastic waste into biodegradable alternatives to be used in the packaging and pharma industries. By using a combination of chemical and biological processes, they were able to convert non-biodegradable plastic waste into materials that biodegrade naturally within a month.
